SCOTLAND NECK, N.C. — Police have arrested a third person in a fatal shooting last weekend in Halifax County.

Tony Shields is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon.

One man was killed and three others were wounded Saturday during a shootout outside a gas station in Scotland Neck.

Waddell Christopher Johnson is charged with murder in the shooting death of Mack Moody.

After the slaying, Johnson fired at law enforcement officers in three different locations before being shot in the leg, authorities said. Hobgood Police Chief Joe Williams was struck in the leg by a ricocheting bullet in one of those shootouts.

Adam Dickens was arrested Saturday and charged with attempted first-degree murder in connection with shots fired at Moody.

Police said Shields also shot at the vehicle Moody was in before Johnson shot Moody.
