Weekend best bets: Rodeo, Repticon

RALEIGH, N.C. — There are a lot of Martin Luther King Jr. Day events happening this weekend. In Fayetteville, there will be a parade on Saturday starting at noon. In Cary, the downtown theater will be the site of the annual "Dreamfest" from noon to 3 p.m. featuring Naomi King who, with her husband A.D. King, provided support for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the Civil Rights Movement. Get a full list of MLK Day events

The U.S. Figure Skating 2015 National Championships kicks off this weekend with junior and intermediate-level skaters taking the ice. Events continue at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex through Jan. 25. Single session/day and weekend package tickets are available. 

The World's Toughest Rodeo returns to Raleigh Saturday night. Featuring 30 professional cowboys battles against bulls, this event is exciting and fun for the entire family. New this year: The All-American Cowgirl Chicks trick riding crew. Tickets start at $18 and children aged 12 and younger are admitted for half price. 

 Get ready to laugh this weekend with Chicago's famous sketch and improv troupe, Second City. The group will play Carolina Theater of Durham Saturday night at 8:30 p.m.

Band Together NC presents The Big Cahoot at City Limits Saloon in Raleigh Saturday night. Yarn, Kasey Tyndall and the Johnny Orr Band are performing at this benefit for the local nonprofit. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 8:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. VIP tickets, which are $75, get you early admission, three drink tickets and food prepared by Cooper's Barbecue, The Oxford and Cameron Bar and Grill.

If you are reptile fan, head to the N.C. State Fairgrounds in Raleigh this weekend for Repticon! There will be vendors offering reptile pets, supplies, feeders, cages, and merchandise. There will also be live animal seminars and prizes. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Those younger than 5 years get in for free.
