TheCoderSchool, which teaches kids ages 7 to 18 coding skills, opened a second Triangle location over the weekend.

According to a press release, the business aims to "show a new generation of kids how galvanizing and stimulating technology can be, while coaching coding skills that are highly in demand and applicable across all industries."

The new school is at 13200 Strickland Rd., Suite 116, in Raleigh. It's owned by local parents Ravisha Weerasinghe and Mehul Shah, who also own theCoderSchool’s Cary location at 201 Davis Grove Circle. After teaching their children coding skills at home, Weerasinghe and Shah wanted to help other parents provide this same opportunity to their children. The couple plans to open as many as six more theCoderSchool locations in the Triangle.

“We are thrilled to expand theCoderSchool’s footprint in North Carolina,” said Weerasinghe in a press release. “There is clearly a massive need for coders and programmers in this country right now, but theCoderSchool’s goal is to show both parents and kids that learning to code does more than just open career doors – it’s also a great creative outlet that improves kids’ logic, ideation and creative thinking skills.”

TheCoderSchool, founded in Silicon Valley, now has locations across the country. Kids learn a variety of coding languages, including HTML, CSS, Python, Javascript and more. Both the Raleigh and Cary locations offer after school programs and camps.
