Posted — UpdatedCapitol Bureau Chief Laura Leslie recaps Monday's action at the State Legislature.
The House passed a bill in its evening session that would give a newly created regional water board authority over Asheville's municipal water system.
Tuesday is expected to be a big day at the legislature as the House education committee takes up a proposal that would expand a state scholarship program for children with disabilities and an education reform package.
In other education news, Rep. Paul Stam, R-Wake, on Monday filed a bill that would help families pay for private school tuition.
Stam calls the proposal the "Opportunity Scholarship program," but opponents say it's a voucher scheme that won't help students who need it most.
