The week ahead: 'Wicked,' NC Symphony

RALEIGH, N.C. — Theater, music and comedy all lead our picks for the first full week of 2015.

Monday 

Cure for the Mondays at Tir na Nog -  Enjoy some laughs during this weekly local comedy stand-up show after TNN's weekly run club. Show is free and starts at 8:30 p.m. 

Tuesday 

WFAR Run Club at White Street Brewing - Stick to that New Year's resolution and burn some calories with the Wake Forest Area Runners. The group meets at White Street Brewing every Tuesday for 3 and 5 mile runs and a post-run social. 

Wednesday 

"Wicked" at the DPAC - This award-winning Broadway production return to Durham tonight. The show will run through Jan. 25. If you don't know the story, it is the tale of two girls in the land of Oz and how one grew to become the Wicked Witch of the West and the other Glinda the Good witch. 

Thursday 

North Carolina Symphony presents "Rhapsody in Blue" - This special performance will take place at Memorial Hall on the campus of UNC-Chapel Hill. Show starts at 7:30 p.m. The show runs Friday and Saturday at Raleigh's Meymandi Concert Hall.

Friday 

John Caparulo - The nationally known comedian who has appeared on CBS' "Late Late Show" and Comedy Central will play Goodnights Comedy Club in Raleigh through Saturday.
