The week ahead: State Fair, fundraising dinner

RALEIGH, N.C. — This is a mouth-watering week in the Triangle with fried Fair food, fundraisers at restaurants and breweries, and wine dinners.

Chicago brewery Finch's Beer Company is beginning to distribute in North Carolina, and The Glass Jug in Durham is hosting a launch party Monday evening. They'll have six beers on tap, including some new or limited release beers.

Busy Bee Cafe in Raleigh hosts a beer dinner Tuesday night featuring hoppy beers from Knee Deep Brewing in California. The menu includes swordfish, roasted squab and wild boar ravioli. Reservations are $50.

A Chorus Line opens Tuesday evening at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium. A winner of nine Tony Awards, the show is about a chorus audition for a Broadway show. Tickets start at $25.14.

Lafayette Village Grill is putting on a six course wine dinner with a menu including potato croquettes, braised beef and truffle cannelloni and a floating island dessert. Reservations are $55 per person or $100 per couple.

Irregardless Cafe is teaming up with Crank Arm for a fundraising dinner. The four course dinner menu includes pizza, short ribs and vanilla bean cheesecake. Vegetarian options are available. Reservations are $45 and proceeds benefit the Enloe Jazz Program.

It's Preview Day at the NC State Fair! Gates open at 3 p.m. for an afternoon and evening of rides, exhibits, entertainment and food. Admission is discounted for Preview Day. You can also get an unlimited ride wristband for $28.

If you like beer and barbecue, look no further than 'Cue and Brews at Raleigh Brewing Company. A $25 ticket includes a plate of barbecue with Wildcard Sauces and two beers. A portion of the proceeds benefit Duke Children's Hospital.
