RALEIGH, N.C. — This week, you can check out a book signing from Weird Al or take a tour through the world of science-fiction with the NC Symphony.

Here are a few highlights for the workweek ahead: 

Monday: Alzheimer's North Carolina holds its 25th annual "Stand by Me" gold tournament at The Club at 12 Oaks in Holly Springs and the Carolina Mudcats host Frederick Keys.
Wednesday: NYT best-selling author Sarah Dessen will be signing copies of her latest book, The Moon and More, at Quail Ridge. Event starts at 7 p.m.
More Wednesday ideas: Hit up the Raleigh Downtown Farmers' Market and in the evening visit Crabtree Valley Mall for the Music in the Valley Series featuring Soul Kitchen.
Thursday: Champagne Happy Hour and 5K Athleta Espirit de She at Koka Booth. This run is designed for women and has a signature post-race rendezvous that includes a bubbly bar, tapas and community market.
Also on Thursday, several free outdoor concerts - Find Your Cool concert series in Durham, Beach Music at North Hills in Raleigh and Oak City 7 in downtown Raleigh.
The North Carolina Symphony's Sci-Fi Spectacular with George Takei is Thursday and Friday at Meymandi Concert Hall. 
Friday: Weird Al will be signing copies of his latest children’s book, My New teacher and Me, at Quail Ridge Books starting at 7 p.m.
Another Friday pick: Paul Reiser at Goodnight's.
