Monday
Competition Dining kicks off its first Durham series tonight at Bay 7 at American Tobacco Campus. For each dinner, two teams of talented chefs combine to make a six-course meal. Diners vote to determine the winner. The competition continues Tuesday and wraps up Thursday.
Also tonight, Gizmo Brewing teams up with Orrman Cheese Shop for a craft beer and cheese pairing at House of Hops. The event features five different beer and cheese pairings. Tickets are $20.
And Foggy Ridge Cider teams up with Fullsteam for a dinner at Standard Foods in Raleigh. Guests will begin in the backyard farm with a cocktail featuring cider, beer and Crude Bitters, then be seated for a four-course springtime dinner featuring alternate pairings of Foggy Ridge Cider and Fullsteam Brewery. Tickets are $90.
Tuesday
Celebrating its 50th anniversary season, the Broadway staple Cabaret is headed to DPAC. It opens tonight and runs through Sunday.
Neuse River Brewing will host a three-course beer dinner featuring Manna Concessions tonight. Tickets are $45. RSVPs are required.
Wednesday
Pearl Jam were scheduled to play at PNC Arena tonight, but the band canceled late Monday citing the controversial House Bill 2.
Lonerider Brewing Company will host a specialty keg night featuring Hoppy Ki Yay with Pineapple Express.
Thursday
The Grand Taste Experience kicks off Taste 2016 tonight. The event, which will feature dishes from 30 local chefs, will be at the Durham Armory. Tickets are $95.
The Midtown Beach Music Series at North Hills begins its season with The Embers featuring Craig Woolard. The free show starts at 6 p.m. in the commons area.
And Jimmy Buffett and Huey Lewis and the News play Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh tonight. Tickets start at $36.
Friday
Brewgaloo holds its first block party sampler event starting at 6 p.m. in City Plaza. Tickets are $45 and a limited number of tickets are available. Some of the sample size pours available will be beers that won't be available during Saturdays main event.
Actor and comedian Martin Lawrence brings his "Doin' Time: Uncut Live" tour to PNC Arena tonight. Tickets start at $44.
The Me Fine Foundation holds its first Spring Benefit Concert tonight featuring Old Habits and The Remedy. The show is at All Saints Chapel. All proceeds go to the Me Fine Foundation, which provides vital financial assistance and emotional support programs to critically ill children being treated by local children's hospitals and their families.
