The week ahead: Big Wheels race, concerts

RALEIGH, N.C. — A wacky race returns to Raleigh and Koka Booth Amphitheater hosts Willie Nelson and Jack Johnson this week.

Monday

Willie Nelson, Alison Krauss and Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas perform at Koka Booth Amphitheater. This concert was originally scheduled for May 4. Tickets for the original concert date will be honored.

Tuesday

The Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club hosts a springtime beer dinner with Mother Earth Brewing. Dinner on the Terrace features a four-course menu and grilling demonstrations. Call 919-493-6699 for reservations.

Wednesday

Jack Johnson performs at Koka Booth. His music is perfect for a spring evening! Tickets start at $50.

Thursday

A crazy but fun race is this evening in downtown Raleigh. The Flow Mini of Raleigh Big Wheels Downhill Monster Race is at Natty Greene's and benefits Action for Healthy Kids. After the race, the bar is offering drink specials, and there will be awards given for race winners and best costumes.

Friday

The PNC Downtown Raleigh Movie Series kicks off this evening in City Plaza with a screening of "Dirty Dancing." It's free, and before the movie, enjoy food trucks, local beer and music from the Nick Driver Band.
