The week ahead: BBQ, Belly Dancing, Beer

Join My Morning Jacket at the Carolina Theatre of Durham tonight for a screening of the film "The Dark Crystal." It is part of a series where the Modern School of Film invites guests to present and discuss a favorite movie. Tickets are $15.

The founder of the School of Rock, Paul Green, is bringing his students on tour. The Paul Green Rock Academy touring band will play The Pinhook Monday at 5 p.m. The show is free. Green was the inspiration for Jack Black's character in the film, "School of Rock."


Fullsteam hosts Belly Dancing and Beer starting at 8 p.m. Learn to dance or just have a beer and watch.


Celebrate National Chicken Wing Day with beer specials and a cornhole tournament at Tribeca Tavern in Raleigh and Cary. The entry fee for the tournament is a donation to the nonprofit HopeSpringVillage.

Also tonight, Fullsteam teams up with Dos Perros for a special beer dinner tonight. Tickets are $45 per person.


The Midtown Beach Music Series continues at North Hills in Raleigh tonight with Band of Oz. The free show starts at 6 p.m. in the commons area.

The Back Porch Music on the Lawn series is also tonight with Jeff Austin Band. The free show starts at 6 p.m. at American Tobacco Campus in Durham.

Also tonight, industrial alternative pioneers KMFDM play Lincoln Theatre. Tickets start at $22.


The Beer Bourbon and BBQ festival kicks off at Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary tonight with a Whole Hog Pig Pickin from 6-10 p.m. The festival continues Saturday with an entire day of fun. Single day or two day passes are available.
