As many of you have posted, the Penguin coupon display is back in stores. This is a display that stands about 5 feet tall and is in the shape of a Penguin. It is usually found in the frozen food departments of Harris Teeter and Lowes Foods about 3 times a year. The display has a number of coupons and recipe tear pads.
According to Yvonne, who sent me an e-mail about the Penguin, it has "a lot of recipes, but not too many coupons."
Here are the coupons on the Penguin this time around:
$1/2 Pillsbury Refrigerated Cookie Dough
$1/2 Palermos Pizza
$1/3 Green Giant veggies
$1/1 TGIFridays frozen snacks

In my opinion, the coupons aren't that exciting on the Penguin this time. Penguins in the past have been much better dressed. We have already seen these same coupons in the newspaper recently so it's not like they are high value coupons for stuff we never see.
In the past, the Penguin had some very good coupons for cheese, and many other items. In the beginning, the Penguin displays were filled with tons of different coupons and maybe 1 or 2 recipe tear pads. The coupon amounts and variety have dwindled terribly with the last couple flightless birds. We need a Mumble intervention to jazz things up! :-)
