In a performance that received more than a million YouTube views since it was uploaded on Tuesday, 12-year-old ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer stunned America's Got Talent judges and received the “golden buzzer” for her rendition of George Gershwin's “Summertime.”

Farmer has been practicing ventriloquism for about two years now, she told Parade magazine in January. She was initially inspired to pick it up after participating in a Las Vegas pageant.

“I won the pageant with a girl who did ventriloquism,” Farmer told journalist Nancy Berk. “And I was just so fascinated with ventriloquism and how she did it. I didn’t even know what it was before I saw her. And so I asked her for tips and pointers, and she was nice enough to give them to me.”

Farmer previously appeared on Steve Harvey’s “Little Big Shots” and Dawn French’s “Little Big Shots UK.”
