RALEIGH, N.C. — Officials at The Alley announced Sunday that the popular bowling venue will soon shut its doors and open a new concept in Durham.

The Alley will close on Saturday, Nov. 26. Its owners will open another entertainment venue in Durham in the Liberty Warehouse Apartments.

"It'll be a much different concept than The Alley here in Raleigh," said owner Chris Poole. "Our new concept is going to be much more restaurant driven and only have eight bowling lanes. We're in the middle of tightening up our plan, and I would love to share that as soon as we're ready to unveil it."

The Alley was an "old-school-style" bowling alley that was cherished by NCSU students and families alike. In addition to its 24 hardwood lanes, The Alley featured a restaurant, a bar and multiple TVs.

Poole said the Hillsborough Street is closing because its lease is ending soon. "We weren't able to work out a long term deal that makes sense for the bowling business," he said.
