Texas Narrowly Avoids Rolling Blackout

With punishing winter weather settling in across much of the country, Texas faced serious trouble on Monday morning as first one, and then another, power plant went offline due to weather issues. The result was a restriction in available energy, but fortunately, Austin electricians were ready to address the problem, and they worked hard to keep the lights on. What could have been a disaster turned into a controllable emergency.

This reflects quite a change from 2011, when weather-related problems ate away at the aging infrastructure of the state's electrical grid and caused some significant outages. The state's energy officials have clearly learned from their experience, and will be applying their skills to future incidents as they work to modernize the grid and maintain a stable power supply.
