CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — One of the hottest foodie tickets is on sale now. The eighth annual TerraVITA Food and Wine Event will feature dinners, classes and a tribute to Crook's Corner's Bill Smith.
Everything kicks off on Thursday, Oct. 18, with the East Meets West, a dinner that brings together chefs from the coat to the mountains. This farm-to-table dinner will feature chefs including Matt Butler of The Great Room in Chapel Hill, Kim Hunter of Kimbap in Raleigh, Bret Edlund of Crawford and Son in Raleigh and Josh DeCarolis of Mother and Sons in Durham. Tickets are $95.
It's time to feel good at Terra Vita's first Feeding Your Soul: A Goodness Workshop on Oct. 19. Held at The Parlour at Manns Chapel, this day-long retreat will include yoga, meditation and speakers including Chef Scott Crawford. Tickets are $115.
Foraging is a hot new trend that will be explored during Into the Wild: Feasting on the Foraged at The Barn of Chapel Hill on Oct. 19. This small class will take you into the woods in search of wild edibles. There will also be a wild cocktail class lead by Fair Game Beverage and Crude Bitters & Sodas. Chef Clark Barlowe will prepare a delicious lunch using previously foraged ingredients. Tickets are $65.

For the third year, TerraVita will host the Hill Fire: Coastal Roast. Held at The Carrboro Town Commons on Oct. 19, this once meat-centric dinner will focus on seafood and vegetables. Cheetie Kumar of Garland in Raleigh, Gabe Barker of Pizzeria Mercato in Carrboro and Scott Crawford of Raleigh's Crawford and Son are among the chefs participating. Tickets are $75.

The fun continues on Friday, Oct. 20, with a day of culinary workshops, food and beverage tastings, demonstrations and panel discussions. This year's Sustainable Classroom sessions feature chefs, journalists and cookbook authors Tickets are $80.
On Oct. 20, there will be a special tribute to Crook's Corner's Bill Smith, who has been cooking at the Chapel Hill restaurant since 1993. The meal will feature cameos from chefs who consider Smith a mentor and hero. Tickets are $120.
TerraVITA's main event, the Grand Tasting on the Green, will be Saturday, Oct. 21. Walk around and taste plates from more than 40 exceptional chefs and artisans from across the state. There will also be samples of more than 80 sustainably-produced beverages from around the globe, including organic coffee, wine, beer and spirits. All-inclusive tickets are $80 each. Designated driver tickets are $65.

If you can afford it, you might want to consider buying one of the all-inclusive passes for $550. There are only a limited number of them and they get you into everything, including several private, non-ticketed events, and early admission into the Grand Tasting.
