Cool temps pair with sunny weekend
Cooler, drier air arrived in the Triangle overnight behind a passing cold front, and pleasant conditions will linger across the area throughout the next several days.
Posted — Updated"We're finally going to see some sunshine for several days in a row after being stuck under the clouds a bit," WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said. "It will be much cooler, though, especially during the weekend."
Highs Friday, Saturday and Sunday will top out in the upper 50s and low 60s, below normal for early November. Overnight lows will also be cool, falling into the mid-30s Saturday and low 40s Sunday.
"There are lots of events going on this weekend, so if you're going to spend time outside, a jacket will be necessary," Gardner said.
Slightly warmer air will build back into the region during the first half of next week, but the warmup will be short-lived.
By Wednesday, daytime highs will be back in the upper 50s. On Thursday, highs may not reach 50 degrees.
"A big chunk of the country is going to see very cold air by the end of next week," Gardner said. "It will be the coldest air of the season."
