Teen Shot, Gunman Sought

A 16-year-old boy was shot in the chest Monday afternoon south of downtown Durham, police said.

DURHAM, N.C. — A 16-year-old boy was shot in the chest Monday afternoon south of downtown, police said.

The teen, whose name wasn't released, was shot on Fisher Place, off South Roxboro Street, and managed to run to the Phoenix Crossing shopping center on Fayetteville Street before collapsing inside a cell phone store, police said.

The teen was taken to Duke University Hospital. There was no word on his condition Monday evening.

Police were searching for the gunman Monday afternoon.
