Teen Science Cafe, family program on tap at Morehead Planetarium this month

Morehead Planetarium and Science Center will host its monthly Teen Science Cafe this Friday. And its popular Star Families program for families with kids ages 7 to 12 is planned later this month.
Friday's Teen Science Cafe opens at 5:30 p.m. with pizza. The program, featuring Dr. Mike Willis, an adjunct professor at UNC, starts at 6 p.m. Friday's topic is "finding love in all the cold places." The program is for ages 13 to 18. Willis will "use demonstrations to explain his current theory on a scientific mystery happening on the Greenland Ice Sheet, where water is cascading into the ice in a way that no one has witnessed before," according to Morehead's website.
And Morehead's Star Families program will focus on African Skies from 3:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., Feb. 22. The program for kids ages 7 to 12 and their families will explore popular African legends under the stars. Pre-registration is required for this one. The cost is $5 per person.
