The average person above 7 is probably conditioned to take take cover when hearing gun shots, especially one to be out playing basketball at the neighboring court. Just glad he will be ok, and his common sense kicked. It's not wise to run toward the sound of a gun.

Or maybe he is conditioned to take cover when he hears gunshots.

If he was trying to take cover I bet he knows who shot him.

You just have to try and ignore "Justin". He is racist, there's no two ways about it. Just try not to get sucked into his racist trolling.

Hey Durham peeps, stop shooting each other. I love Durham and you're just making us look bad. Can't you all just get a long? (Obviously not)

The numbers speak for themselves. Accusing someone of being racist when they are referring to irrefutable statistics is not logical. Playing he race card regarding violent crime in Durham is the ultimate grasping at straws.

For the gun advocates...I suppose you would expect the fellow to dribble with one hand, while holding a gun in the other...how else would he be able to 'defend himself'.
To those with brains...we need LESS guns. Almost no one can truly justify having a gun, unless we as a society think we have NO RIGHT to live without being shot. The constitution says we have the right to Life!
Current laws are clearly NOT a deterrent to just about every shooting that you read about. Only less guns will help this problem. But no politician has the guts to do what is right for society overall, in this case.

Justin Case, punishments are rare to be handed down when a white person commits a crime with a gun in this country, along with NC. Your every comment is race based, but yet, we are led to believe race isn't as bad anymore. The articles aren't even about race, but yet your comments go right to that each and every time. Are you that intimidated and jealous of Blacks? What is it that they have, and you don't that makes you seem so inferior, that your every thought is tied to race, in particularly Blacks?

If the perpetrator is under 21 and a handgun was used, it was an illegally possessed firearm no matter where or how it was purchased.

Punishments are usually more harsh when a white person commits a crime with a gun in N.C.
