— A 16-year-old boy died in a wreck on Tally-Ho Road in Granville County Thursday morning, the North Carolina Highway Patrol said.

Andrew Scott Hobgood, of Oxford, was on his way to Granville Central High School when the wreck happened around 8:15 a.m., troopers said.

It is unclear what caused the wreck, which occurred near Sanders Road.

Kelly Jo Frazier, the driver of the car, was not seriously hurt.

Initial reports had Hobgood as the driver but that was not the case, troopers said Thursday evening.

Headlong....thank you for your condolences, but it's strange how everyone at Andrew's house yesterday (hundreds) knew the correct story. The only place I was told it was not correct was at this website. They must have asked the wrong person for the correct information.

TimeKeeper...From Our Family to Yours Our Deepest Condolences!!!

In WRALs defence...they were given the wrong information as when I seen it I called them right away...they were checking with the State Police after the story printed and released. They did change pretty quickly afterwards. Other News Agencies had the wrong information as well.

Andrew is my sister's grandson. Our hearts are so sad and broken. His sweetness will always be in my heart and missed by all of us. It would have been great if WRAL had their facts correct the first time instead of just printing what they think happened. How inconsiderate to Andrew's family.

Andrew and the driver were in my son's fourth period class. I appreciate how the staff and students are bonding together to get thru this difficult time. My prayers are with both families and everyone at GCHS.

I am a student at Granville Central High School and Kelly was in fact the driver, and Andrew was the passenger.
This is the third student death we have had in the three years the school has been open, so all prayers are very much appreciated.
My heart goes out to Andrew's family and friends.
