— A train struck and killed a 15-year-old girl along railroad tracks at Morrisville Carpenter and Chapel Hill roads Monday evening, a Morrisville town spokeswoman said.

Jessica Fladung was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are calling her death an apparent suicide.

Spokeswoman Stephanie Smith said police talked to the train conductor to piece together what lead to Fladung's death.

The wreck caused major traffic delays during the evening commute.

sinenomine, it says in the article it was a suspected suicide. Is so sad that a young teen sees nothing in life worth living for. So sorry for family and friends.

Only 15 years old. Have a future ahead of her to end this tragic. My sympathies to the family and friends of this young lady who had hopes and aspiring dreams just to be shattered this young in life.

That intersection between Morrisville-Carpenter Road at Highway 54 at that railroad crossing is one of the most dangerous intersections in the state.
