Teen hit by car in Smithfield

Around 6 p.m., a 15-year-old male was crossing from the Loma Linda convenience store to the parking lot of White Swan restaurant when he ran into oncoming traffic, police said. He was struck by a car traveling northbound near the intersection of Highway 301 and Galilee Road.

SMITHFIELD, N.C. — A pedestrian was hit by a car in Smithfield Friday, police said, but no charges will be filed against the driver.

Around 6 p.m., a 15-year-old male was crossing from the Loma Linda convenience store to the parking lot of White Swan restaurant when he ran into oncoming traffic, police said. He was struck by a car traveling northbound near the intersection of Highway 301 and Galilee Road.

The teen, whose name was not released, was taken to WakeMed for minor injuries. He was later released.
