Teen found guilty of fatally punching former football teammate at Clinton County party

Posted August 15

— The teenager accused of fatally punching an 18-year-old during a party in Clinton County has been found guilty of involuntary manslaughter.

On Sunday, April 23, Jacob J. Arter, a student at Breese Central Community High School, died after being punched at a rural clubhouse.

Witnesses said around 100 teens were at a bonfire at the clubhouse when Arter was punched by the suspect and collapsed. After being punched, a student drove Arter to the hospital while another performed CPR in the backseat. The teenager was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The 17-year-old, who was reportedly a teammate of Arter's on the football team before losing eligibility due to grades, is being allowed to remain on house arrest until his sentencing, which is scheduled for Oct. 5.
