Kiki Farish, artist-in-residence at the N.C. Museum of Art, will hold a workshop for teens next month.

The program, called Identifying Marks, will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Jan. 10. The cost is $20 for non-members of the museum and $15 for members.

Here's a description of the program:

"Artist-in-residence Kiki Farish introduces her own work in the exhibition Line, Touch, Trace and then leads teens in an investigation of how artists use line to convey character and emotion. Using graphite and Bristol board, participants work with Farish to create their own thoughtful self-portraits. Materials provided. Enrollment is limited; register by Jan. 6 online or by calling the Museum Box Office at 919- 715-5923."

This might be a fun Christmas gift for an artsy teen.

"Line, Touch, Trace, organized by Greenhill in Greensboro, North Carolina, features hand-drawn works by 13 North Carolina artists who use graphite, ballpoint pen, conté crayon, ink, or charcoal to explore drawing in its relationship to thought processes," according to the museum website.

The exhibit is on display through March 8. The museum hosts a big variety of programs for teens all year.
