Teen Dies After Orange County Wreck

A teen died Friday afternoon about 12 hours after a car she was riding in ran off the road, hit a tree and overturned, authorities said.

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — A teen died Friday afternoon about 12 hours after a car she was riding in ran off the road, hit a tree and overturned, authorities said.

The wreck occurred shortly before 4 a.m. on Wabash Road, a private drive located off of Carl Durham Road in southern Orange County, authorities said.

Jordan Marshall Crim, 16, of 6518-A Alexander Drive in Chapel Hill, was charged with driving while impaired, driving with no operator’s license and driving by a person less than 21 years old after consuming alcohol or drugs, authorities said.

Crim was released to the custody of his father.

The girl, whose name hadn't been released Friday evening, died of her injuries Friday afternoon at University of North Carolina Hospital, authorities said.

The wreck remains under investigation, and more charges are pending, authorities said.
