Teen charged in sexual assaults on girls

An 18-year-old man has been charged in connection with sexual assaults on two girls, the Moore County Sheriff's Office reported Monday.

An 18-year-old Pinebluff man has been charged in connection with sexual assaults on two girls, the Moore County Sheriff's Office reported Monday.

David Mendoza, of 114 Woodglen Way, is accused of the assaults on the girls, ages 13 and 8. He is facing two counts of sexual battery, two counts of indecent liberties with a child, two counts of first-degree sex offense on a child, first-degree rape and crimes against nature.

Investigators said the incidents occurred outside the Aberdeen area of Moore County.

Mendoza was held in the Moore County Detention Center under a $1 million secured bond. He is scheduled for a first appearance Oct. 18 in Moore County District Court in Carthage.
