Task force to review proposal restricting vehicle signs in Raleigh
Posted July 1, 2014
Raleigh, N.C. — The Raleigh City Council on Tuesday asked a task force to review a proposal that would prohibit some companies from parking next to roadways vehicles that advertise their business.
Establishments with fleets or those who use the vehicles daily would be exempt from the measure. Otherwise, owners would have to park the vehicles behind the business or as close as possible to its entrance.
The proposed amendment to the city's sign ordinance is in response to complaints about businesses using their vehicles to circumvent the sign ordinance.
The city's Sign Task Force will review the measure and report back to city leaders.
A public hearing – yet to be scheduled – would then be held on the matter before the City Council takes any action.
