Heads up Target shoppers in the Triangle: The Cartwheel Perks program is ending and you have a limited amount of time to earn Perks and redeem them.

Cartwheel Perks is only available in five markets nationwide, including Raleigh/Durham. It was still in the testing phase when Target decided to pull the plug on the whole program.

The program allows users to earn points on purchases and then cash them in for freebies like drinks, toys or books.

Here is the timeline for phasing out the Cartwheel Perks program:

August 27: Last day to earn Perks points

September 27: Last day to make your final Perks selections

October 27: Last day to redeem any Perks

Sadly, this program has had a number of issues regarding customers using it fraudulently and that is likely one of the contributing factors involved in the decision to terminate the program completely.

Target is now merging the Cartwheel app in to the primary Target app, so look for more Cartwheel changes soon.
