An Eastern North Carolina plastics plant is shutting down.

<b>TARBORO, N.C.</b> — An Eastern North Carolina plastics plant is shutting down.

General Foam Products Corporation in Tarboro is laying off all of its 215 local employees.

The layoffs will begin in mid-October and continue until the end of the year.

The company has not said why it has decided to close the plant.
