Tanning salon employee found guilty of peeping

Northie McArtan Jr., 57, was sentenced to 12 months' probation for two counts of secret peeping stemming from crimes that happened in September 2009 and April 2011.

SMITHFIELD, N.C. — A Smithfield man who worked at a local tanning salon has been found guilty of peeping at customers.

Northie McArtan Jr., 57, was sentenced to 12 months' probation for two counts of secret peeping stemming from crimes that happened in September 2009 and April 2011.

As part of his sentencing, McArtan cannot work or operate a tanning salon, and he must not have any contact with the victims. He must also undergo a psychological evaluation.

McArtan had also been accused of sexual battery but was found not guilty of that charge.
