Swinging bridge the big attraction at Grandfather Mountain

— The swinging bridge at Grandfather Mountain is suspended one mile above sea level. The original bridge was built in 1952, then rebuilt in 1999 using galvanized steel.

    "...the big attraction? I don't get it! That bridge almost anywhere else would be NO attraction! It is the setting... NOT the bridge! I once lived in that region of NC and have been to Grandfather Mountain many times... and love it! But I do not go there for this bridge! If the bridge were to be removed... would it make G-father Mtn LESS attractive to me? NO! I believe that would be true for most people.
