New to Swagbucks?

If you don't know about Swagbucks yet, it's the largest rewards website that gives people free gift cards for the things they do online (searching, shopping, watching videos, playing games and more). You earn points called SB for online activities and then you can cash them in for gift cards to places like Amazon, Target, Walmart, CVS, Lowes, Starbucks, Paypal, Bass Pro Shops, Kohl's and so many more! It's free to join and I have earned a bunch of gift cards in the many years I have been a member.

How do you get these SB points? There are lots of ways.

* Search online: Each time you need to search for something online, use the Swagbucks search engine on their website (instead of Google). I actually have the Swagbucks toolbar installed on my desktop and it places a search box right on my screen making it super easy to search. Every once in a while, they award SB points just for doing the searches I used to do using Google.

* Take surveys on their website

* Answer the daily poll

* Watch videos through their website or multiple mobile apps (I earn about 80 - 100 SB a day doing this)

* Use their online shopping portal (I do most of my online shopping at major retailers who are part of the Swagbucks Shop and Earn program (like,, and more) and earn Swagbucks every time I shop. Just this week, I was credited with 562 SB points (worth $5.62 in gift cards) for an online purchase I made a few weeks ago.

* Play games

* Participate in special Swag Code events

* Enter the daily Swag Code (which we usually let you know about here on the blog each day). Swagbucks posts bonus codes on their Facebook, Twitter and blog pages each day. If you have the Swagbucks Mobile App, it will buzz when there is a new code. When the code becomes available each day, one of us posts it here on the blog so we can all get it. The codes are only valid for an hour usually. Once you get the code, you then copy and paste the code into the Swag Code box at the top of the homepage of Look for the circle with the words Swag Code next to it.

New member bonus Swagbucks sign-up code!

As I posted above, new members get a 70 SB bonus when you sign up HERE. To get the bonus SB points, click the text that reads "I have a sign up code" during registration and then enter the code: SMARTSHOPPER to get the bonus. Make sure you use all caps since it is case sensitive.

    Kathy S. - great job on the 290 points!

    Stephanie - thank you for being the Swagbucks guru!! :-)

    kanddmama - welcome to the challenge!

    ascherer - that's a great start. Keep it up and you'll make your goal of 400 for your team before it's over.

    My team is in 3rd place last I checked. Better than last, which is where I usually fall in these challenges. lol

    Good luck on Tuesday everyone!

    I''m on the One Kick Wonders team. It is going to be hard because I am limited at work and don't have the app but I am going to try it. I have 110 so far.

    Yay Kathy!!

  • Kathy S. Aug 15, 2016

    Up to 290 pts for my team. I'm on a roll now.

  • kanddmama Aug 15, 2016

    Figured it out! Needed the laptop.

  • Kathy S. Aug 15, 2016

    Got it. thanks Senglish.

  • kanddmama Aug 15, 2016

    I'm not sure how to join a team. I'm trying this on a mobile device! Help! Lol

  • senglish27529 Aug 15, 2016

    Kathy, Do you use the various mobile apps for videos? If you do, then every time you earn 2 SB watching those videos, you earn 25 team points. And if you use all 6 apps, and don't get any bonus rounds, you'll earn 750 team points.

    If you don't use the mobile apps, then try watching videos through the website. Every time you earn Swagbucks from those (from 1 to 3 for most playlists), then you earn 20 team points. You can maximize team points by watching the 1 points ones -- usually 5 or 6 videos -- because you'll earn 20 team points for 1 Swagbuck earned.

    And don't forget, you have until Friday to earn your 400 team points for the challenge, in order to get the Swag Up reward that your team qualifies for.

    So how do you contribute 400 to your teams total? I have done 95 today but not sure how to get any more. I am accruing SB's but no more team pts.

  • senglish27529 Aug 15, 2016

    Kathy, on the Go for the Gold team page, it will show you what the various activities contribute as far as "team points." The team points are different that the Swagbucks that those activities pay. For example, Watch on desktop Swagbutton (not mobile apps) contributes 3 SB when you finish a set of 10. That same activity, though, contributes 20 team points. Just remember that team points contributed are different that Swagbucks earned.

    Does that help?
