New to Swagbucks?

If you don't know about Swagbucks yet, it's the largest rewards website that gives people free gift cards for the things they do online. You earn points called SB for online activities and then you can cash them in for gift cards to places like CVS, Amazon, Starbucks and many more options! It's free to join and I have earned a bunch of gift cards in the many years I have been a member.

How do you get these super SB points? Each time you need to search for something online, use the Swagbucks search engine on their website (instead of Google). I actually have the Swagbucks toolbar installed on my desktop and it places a search box right on my screen making it super easy to search. Every once in a while, they award SB points just for doing the searches I used to do using Google. There are also a number of other ways to earn SB points including taking surveys, answering polls, watching videos, playing games, referring friends, using their online shopping portal, special Swag Code events and more.

Swagbucks also posts additional bonus codes on their Facebook, Twitter and blog pages each day. When a Smart Shopper reader finds a code (usually one per day), they post it here on the blog so we can all get it. The codes are only valid for a couple hours usually. Once you find a code, you then copy and paste the code into the Swag Code box at the top of the homepage of Swagbucks HERE . Look for the circle with the words Swag Code next to it.

New member bonus Swagbucks sign-up code!

It's free to sign up for Swagbucks and only takes a minute. New members usually get 30 SB points when you sign up HERE and right now, you can score an additional 70 SB for a total of 100 SB! To get the bonus SB points, click the text that reads "I have a sign up code" during registration and then enter the code: SMARTSHOPPER to get the bonus. Make sure you use all caps since it is case sensitive.

Thanks Stephanie! :) You described it fine -- I'm still learning when it comes to SB and it doesn't always sink in right away. LOL

jdouglas -- Yes, I cash out my Swagbucks for Paypal gift cards, and the funds deposit directly to my Paypal account. I transfer most to my checking account, but I try to leave enough in Paypal for purchases like this one.

Thanks for asking! I realized when you asked the question that I didn't describe that particular part well enough.

Stephanie, can you explain the Paypal - SB connection? Can you get SB using Paypal or are you getting Paypal GC from SB? Thanks :)

Aww, thanks Faye. I guess I just have a lot of time on my hands! And here's how your deal with checking Shop & Earn can work (and others work this option much better than I do!):

I decided I needed a new raincoat. I checked in stores, and the only ones I found that would meet my needs were around $100, and would likely need altering for an additional charge. I checked on ebay, and they had exactly what I wanted for a total of $29 (incl shipping). Score! I used Shop & Earn and will earn SB for that purchase. Score again! I also paid for the purchase using Paypal, where my balance comes from redeeming Swagbucks. Score one more time!

Thanks for you responses, I appreciate it!

I agree with Stephanie's awesome response that the first goal is usually pretty attainable each day for me. Mine was 79 today and is usually about 95 - 100 during the week. My second goal today is 120 and is usually about 140 during the week. I also focus on making the first goal each day and if I make the second goal (which often happens because mine is lower than the ones Stephanie mentioned), it's icing on the cake.

I make my goal by getting the 36 SB from Mobile SB TV, watching the videos on my computer through Watch, doing Ncrave activities, answering the daily poll, clicking through the NOSO offers and watching videos and doing free offers through Discover Radium. I also make sure if I purchase anything online, I look to see if they are a Swagbucks store so I can get SB for the purchase.

Stephanie - thanks for your great response! You are definitely our Swagbucks guru. :-)

TJ84 -- I forgot to add that I make every effort to reach my "first" goal each day in order to get the 300 "Monthly Master" winning streak bonus, but I no longer worry about reaching the second goal each day, which I was doing consistently up until September 2014.

I also ran out of room in that first response, so if you have questions, I'll be glad to address them, based on my experience. (I made Swagbucks a second parttime job when I retired from my day job two years ago.)

TJ84 -- I'm not Faye, but I have some experience with that "raising goal" phenomenon at Swagbucks.

As a basic frame of reference, the "first" goal is typically the same for most of us (today it's 79, with a bonus of 8). This is the goal that the "Winning Streaks" are based on. The "second" goal will go up as you consistently reach it. You have to decide what is worth it to you. Yes, there's a little more bonus involved, but if it means less time for the family or other things of value to you, then the few pennies that additional goal/bonus represents my not be worth the time and effort it takes to reach.

I've been tracking goals vs. earnings on a spreadsheet for about a year and a half. My "second" goal went from an average of 249 in 4/14 to an average of 558 in 9/14. Many people have second goals MUCH higher than that, though I have no idea how they reach them. I had to make an effort "not" to reach that goal in order for it to come back down (that took 9 months or so).

TJ84 - that is normally the way they do it. The more you earn on average, the higher your goal gets. The goal for me seems to go down a little bit on the weekends but is higher during the week as well.

Thanks Faye, It seems like the more I do swagsbucks the more they increase my daily goal. Does this eventually stop?
