SUV carrying shooting victim crashes into Durham apartment

A Chevrolet Tracker carrying two people, including a 16-year-old shooting victim, crashed into an apartment on the way to a local hospital Monday night.

DURHAM, N.C. — A Chevrolet Tracker carrying two people, including a 16-year-old shooting victim, crashed into an apartment on the way to a local hospital Monday night.

The shooting happened outside 110 N. Driver St., and the crash happened at 912 Angier Ave. around 7:40 p.m., according to Durham police.

The shooting victim, whose name was not released, was taken to Duke University Hospital where he underwent surgery and was expected to survive.

The 18-year-old driver, whose name also was not released, was taken to Duke for treatment of chest pains, police said. The people inside the apartment were not injured.

No arrests have been made in the shooting, and no other information was released.
