CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Traffic on South Columbia Street near the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was detoured briefly Monday afternoon while police investigated reports of a suspicious package in the area.

Authorities were at the scene for less than an hour and appeared to be focused on a green bucket or cooler.
