Suspicious package detours Chapel Hill traffic briefly
Traffic on South Columbia Street in Chapel Hill was detoured briefly Monday afternoon while police investigated reports of a suspicious package in the area.
Posted — UpdatedCHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Traffic on South Columbia Street near the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was detoured briefly Monday afternoon while police investigated reports of a suspicious package in the area.
Authorities were at the scene for less than an hour and appeared to be focused on a green bucket or cooler.
Randy Young, a UNC public safety spokesman, said the package was determined to have posed no threat to the campus.
