Suspicious package detours Chapel Hill traffic briefly

Posted April 22, 2013

— Traffic on South Columbia Street near the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was detoured briefly Monday afternoon while police investigated reports of a suspicious package in the area.

Authorities were at the scene for less than an hour and appeared to be focused on a green bucket or cooler.

Randy Young, a UNC public safety spokesman, said the package was determined to have posed no threat to the campus.

I hope this suspicious package thing doesn't get out of hand. There are bunches of things laying around places I don't know what they are and I'm not about to assume they are something explosive.
