A man suspected in a string of bank robberies across the Southeast has been arrested in South Carolina, authorities said.

COTTAGEVILLE, S.C. — A man suspected in a string of bank robberies across the Southeast has been arrested in South Carolina, authorities said.

The FBI apprehended William Cobb, 43, on Friday in Cottageville, which is about 30 miles northwest of Charleston, S.C.

Cobb is wanted for bank robberies in Fayetteville, Pineville, Lumberton, Rocky Mount, Raleigh, Statesville and Cary, as well as robberies in South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, Florida and Georgia. All told, investigators said they believe Cobb is responsible for 22 robberies between October 2005 and September 2006.
