Suspect sought on attempted murder charge in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police are looking for a man who they believe is responsible for a March 9 shooting that injured another man.

Darrel Simeon Bethea, 20, is wanted on one charge each of attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Police say he shot Tyeus Nicholas, 19, on Newport Road in Fayetteville around 4:30 p.m. Friday. Nicholas is still being treated for his injuries.

Bethea is black, stands 6 feet tall and weighs about 150 pounds. He has a 2-inch scar on his face and a tattoo, "Young Rell," on his arm.

Investigators are asking that anyone with information about where Bethea might be to contact the Fayetteville Police Department at 910-433-1856 or to call Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.
