— Goldsboro police secured arrest warrants Sunday charging 24-year-old Quinton Leon Swinson with an open count of murder in connection with a fatal early morning shooting inside a night club on U.S. Highway 117.

Officers responding to a shooting call at Teaser's Night Club around 1:15 a.m. Sunday found Jairus Mikeal Saunders, of 406 Mercer St., on the floor near the bathroom, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

The body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Chapel Hill for an autopsy.

After interviewing several witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage from the club, investigators identified Swinson as a suspect.

He was not in custody as of Sunday afternoon.

Swinson's last known address is 906 N. Carolina St. in Goldsboro. He is black, about 6 feet tall and 280 pounds. He goes by the nickname "Fat Boy," which is tattooed on his left arm. He also has the word "North" tattooed on his right arm, "Swinson" across his back and "DOE" on his right hand.

Police said he should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police at 919-580-4218 or Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255.

Steven, I'm in the same area, and we went hardcore against that project, as well.

I live in the Rosewood area of Wayne Co.,and when a developer wanted to build a housing "project"near this area(Second Fling area)it was shut down in a hurry!We-I being one-didn't need the city's crime problems getting any closer than it is now. Also glad to hear they de-annexed the Lanetree area that was FORCED into the city for tax reasons-they didn't need or ask the city for anything. We have some crimes-done by out of school youths/dropouts-in the Rosewood Road area,break-ins and theft of property. But NO murders yet,and hope to keep it that way. When the new road is complete,(HWY 44 to LaGrange)most will bypass Goldsboro all together, and their goes money with it.

I am a local, but I still have hope for this town. This is a small enough town that with the right police backing the streets can be taken back. It would take a BIG community effort but I think it would be worth it. Goldsboro has some of the most wonderful people I have ever met and I dont want these bad apples to spoil our community. Its just as much the fault of the community as it is the criminals this is happening. Ever heard the saying you keep feeding that stray dog and he is never gonna go away? Well, same thing.. Keep letting these criminals steal our streets, dont give them tough sentences and be sure to close your eyes like you arent seeing what happened and all you are doing is feeding into it. Take a stand, report these crimes(thats what anonymous hotlines are for), build a jail so we can house them and Judges stop giving little slaps on the hands and parents know where your kids are and stop letting TV, computers and other people watch your kids for you.

I lived in Goldsboro for a short time...a very short time. Over on Spence Ave was the safest place I could find. Broke down around the Ash Street area and just left the car there and had a taxi take me home. Just wanted to get out of there fast before the sun went down. If it wasn't for Seymour Johnson AFB, that whole town would be nothing but one big housing project. Even the locals would admit that I betchya.

I believe right and wrong starts at home, but I also know that no matter how good of parent someone is there are some children that are still head strong. Its not the job of our Police to raise our children, but it is the job of the police, Judges and DA to enforce the law and terms served. The jail is over crowded and inmates sleeping on mats on the floor, so most criminals are getting probation and sent home on bail. Its like a domino affect and until the county puts money into this so that criminals have to actually pay for their actions its only going to get worst.

Steven, I hear that! I can't even IMAGINE having to try to get to work on Center St. right now, as torn up as it is. A few years ago I wanted to rent a space downtown for a studio/gallery, and in retrospect? Glad I didn't. Scary after dark, for sure!

Goldsboro is going to downhill fast. And the city wants new buisness to open downtown, what a joke!!The city officials are too busy with their new streetscape project and buying "new"topsoil to replace the old soil?Makes alot of sense huh?I work ON Center street daily and have for 17 years,I would NOT "visit" any place downtown after dark-let alone a sleezy strip club outside town.3 murders in a month-sounds like we're competing with Durham or Fayettville for the highest crime rate.
