Suspect sought in fatal shooting at Goldsboro club

Goldsboro police secured arrest warrants Sunday charging 24-year-old Quinton Leon Swinson with an open count of murder in connection with a fatal early morning shooting inside a night club on U.S. Highway 117.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Goldsboro police secured arrest warrants Sunday charging 24-year-old Quinton Leon Swinson with an open count of murder in connection with a fatal early morning shooting inside a night club on U.S. Highway 117.

Officers responding to a shooting call at Teaser's Night Club around 1:15 a.m. Sunday found Jairus Mikeal Saunders, of 406 Mercer St., on the floor near the bathroom, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

The body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Chapel Hill for an autopsy.

After interviewing several witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage from the club, investigators identified Swinson as a suspect.

He was not in custody as of Sunday afternoon.

Swinson's last known address is 906 N. Carolina St. in Goldsboro. He is black, about 6 feet tall and 280 pounds. He goes by the nickname "Fat Boy," which is tattooed on his left arm. He also has the word "North" tattooed on his right arm, "Swinson" across his back and "DOE" on his right hand.

Police said he should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police at 919-580-4218 or Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255.
