Suspect in Spring Lake armed robberies apprehended, another still sought

A 21-year-old wanted for a string of armed robberies in Spring Lake was arrested in High Point on Wednesday by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

SPRING LAKE, N.C. — A 21-year-old wanted for a string of armed robberies in Spring Lake was arrested in High Point on Wednesday by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

Henry Lee Pemberton Jr., of 127 N. First Street in Spring Lake, is charged with four counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and three counts of second-degree kidnapping.

Pemberton is accused of:

  • Robbing two people with a handgun who were responding to a Craigslist ad on Dec. 23, 2014
  • Robbing a Sprint Store with a handgun on Dec. 30, 2014
  • Robbing the Spring Store with a handgun on Jan. 3

Pemberton remained in the Cumberland County jail Wednesday under a $200,000 bond.

Investigators are still searching for Tony Adams, who they say was involved in several of the aforementioned armed robberies.
