BURLINGTON, N.C. — Police said they have in custody the man "responsible" for the shooting death of a Holly Springs man in a Burlington apartment complex Wednesday evening.

Nicholas Lamonte Harris, 21, of 2006 Trail Two in Burlington, has been identified as a suspect but not charged in the shooting of Rodney Joe Bigelow, 24, of Holly Springs. Bigelow was found shot to death in the parking lot of the Parliament House Apartments, where Harris lives.

Harris has been charged with possession of a firearm and manufacture, sale and delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school. He was being held under a $200,000 secured bond.

Burlington police said the circumstances of the shooting were still under investigation. They planned to meet with the Alamance County District Attorney's Office to review the case.

Anyone with information about the shooting should call the Burlington Police Department at 336-229-3500 or Alamance County Crime Stoppers at 336-229-7100.

Harris was on probation stemming from 2009 convictions for drug possession and obtaining property by false pretenses, according to state Department of Correction records.
