ROSEWOOD, NC — Deputies on Wednesday arrested a 47-year-old man whom they believe is a suspect in several breaking-and-entering cases.

A caller told police someone was breaking into a house on Pate Circle in the Rosewood community, about six miles west of Goldsboro. Deputies said a man came out of the house and ran away when they arrived.

Deputies chased him on foot for about half a mile before arresting the man – identified as Willie Marcellus Banks, 47, of an unknown address in Wayne County.

Deputies said they also recovered $500 worth of stolen property and returned it to its owner.

Investigators said Banks committed the Pate Circle home break-in and they suspect he committed several others in the area.

Banks has been charged with three counts of resisting, obstructing and delaying an officer and one count each of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, and possession of stolen goods.

He was being held in under a $40,000 bond on Friday.

State Department of Corrections shows that Banks has an extensive record of convictions on drug, larceny and breaking-and-entering charges, going back to 1977, in Johnston, Wilson and Wake counties.
