DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham man wanted in connection with a recent homicide was arrested Thursday, police said.

Jeffery Lamar Dawes, 21, of Durham, was shot inside an apartment at 561 Liberty St. on March 22 and died at Duke University Hospital, police said.

Police apprehended Jermaine Alexander Gibbs, 18, of Eva Street, Thursday afternoon on Hicks Street, and he was charged with murder.

Investigators said they have determined that Gibbs and Dawes knew each other and the shooting wasn't random.
