Suspect in custody after police chase

Roads were closed in Raleigh Saturday night after a man driving a pickup truck with stolen plates led police on a chase and then crashed.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A man attempting to evade police caused a road closure in Raleigh Saturday before he was caught, police said. 

According to police the chase started just before 7:30 p.m. A man driving a truck with stolen plates led police through a church parking lot where he broke an axle. The man continued to drive until he crashed into a utility pole at Hargett and Camden Streets. 

The suspect attempted to run, but was quickly taken into custody. 

Roads in the area were closed Saturday night. 

No further information was released.
