Suspect in Connecticut slaying arrested in Cumberland County
A New Britain man has been arrested in North Carolina, hours after his wife was found dead in their home in Connecticut.
Posted — UpdatedNew Britain police say Juan Palafox was being held in Fayetteville on Thursday as a fugitive from justice. New Britain Superior Court issued an arrest warrant later in the day, charging the 32-year-old with murder and setting a $5 million bond. He was originally charged with violating a restraining order.
Thirty-year-old Dia Palafox was found dead Thursday morning on the kitchen floor. Police say there were signs of trauma to the body.
Juan Palafox was taken into custody during a traffic stop on Interstate 95, authorities said. He was being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $1 million bond.
He was scheduled to be in court Friday as he awaits extradition to Connecticut.
