RALEIGH, N.C. — The man wanted in connection with a 1999 homicide in Raleigh, has been arrested in North Dakota, police said Thursday.

Pedro Castillo Gallegos, 28, was found stabbed to death at 208 Colleton Road on Christmas Day 1999. Police later issued an arrest warrant for Alfonso Montoya Hernandez in Gallegos' death.

Investigators were never able to find Hernandez, and they said they believed he fled the U.S.

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents arrested Hernandez, now 59, in North Dakota on Wednesday, police said. He is being held without bond in the Bottineau County jail, pending extradition to Raleigh.
