— A 30-year-old man faces charges including aggravated felony death by motor vehicle, DWI and felony hit and run after a wreck in the 1100 block of Goldrock Road in Rocky Mount Saturday night.

Police said a truck driven by Brian Keith Moss illegally passed a vehicle in the turning lane and struck another car. The driver in that vehicle, 21-year-old Kevin Orozco, was killed.

Authorities said Moss fled the scene in his vehicle but was later located by the Nash County Sheriff's Office at Highway 48 and Red Oak Battleboro Road where he had wrecked his vehicle.

Moss is also charged with unsafe passing, failure to reduce speed, driving while license revoked and possession of marijuana.

He was being held under a $104,000 bond in the Nash County jail on Monday.

According to Rocky Mount Telegram the victim was walking. Their story has been updated to reflect a more accurate version as the e report was incorrect. Either way what a sad situation.

I'm not sure where these morons are getting that they can use turn lanes, exit and entrance ramps, shoulders, whatever to pass in. It's extremely dangerous drunk or sober. I used to see this behaviour fairly frequently on 264 heading into Raleigh from Wilson, and it causes a mess - running off the shoulder, people swerving.
