Fayetteville man arrested in rape investigation

Fayetteville, N.C. — Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Special Victims Unit have charged a suspect in connection with a rape that occurred on February 9.
Police arrested and charged Daniel Raymond Hughes, 35, of the 7100 block of Stone Point Road, with breaking and entering to terrorize, second-degree forcible rape, first degree kidnapping, and three counts of second degree sex offense.
Authorities said Hughes entered the female victim’s home, refused to allow the victim to leave, and forcibly raped her.
Hughes turned himself into FPD detectives and is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $200,000 secured bond.
