Support Backpack Buddies today at Crossroads or Crabtree Malls!

Posted August 21, 2013

Here's your chance to give back to those less fortunate with the annual Mix 101.5 WRAL-FM Backpack Buddies event! You can donate food or money to help feed children who may not have enough to eat on the weekend. With all the fabulous Super Doubles deals we have had recently, hopefully you can find a few items to share!

You can drop off donations or money at either Crossroads Plaza (in front of Old Navy) in Cary or Crabtree Valley Mall (in front of Macy's) in Raleigh today through 6:00 pm.  All donations go to support the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle. They send home backpacks filled with food for needy children every weekend.

For all the information on the location of the food drives at each mall and to make a monetary donation, head to their   website.

swoodley - Thank you very much for making such a generous donation!

Thanks to WRAL-FM and the Interfaith Food Shuttle for making this event for such an important cause so convenient -- I drove to the front of the tent and the nice Interfaith Food Shuttle lady unloaded my two heavy grocery bags of mostly organic food! My next stop was Whole Foods to get a few groceries and vitamins and was so happy to learn when I got there that vitamin supplements were 25 percent off today!

And tuckerbrian - I forgot to mention that anyone, anywhere can donate money to the Backpack Buddies cause online at the link in the box above. It's not just an in-person fundraiser.

Then I think contacting the radio station is your best bet, tuckerbrian. Good luck!

Thanks Faye, I'll do that, contact WRAL radio. I wasn't looking to give to a church, but rather have more locations from the radio station, as they do on air the day of, would attract more attention to other areas. Thanks again.

tuckerbrian - I have no idea why the radio station picked those locations. If you are interested in donating to a location in Garner, I suggest you take a look at the long list of area churches that offer food banks. I see a number of Garner and Knightdale locations on this list:

I hope that helps. You may also want to suggest to WRAL-FM 101.5 that they consider additional locations in the future. You can contact them here:

What happened to the east side of Wake county ? Does no one want to donate to this worth while cause ? Can't WRAL set up shop on the east side of town, like Triangle Mall, Knightdale, Garner to name a few areas. It seems like the drop off locations are always on the west side of town.
