Superintendent who left Nash-Rocky Mount finds new job in Vance County
Less than a month after his resignation as the superintendent of Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools, Dr. Anthony Jackson has accepted the same position in Vance County.

Jackson attributed his decision to leave Nash-Rocky Mount schools after four years to "the will of the majority of the board," implying that he was forced out.
He'll begin his tenure in Vance County Aug. 1. In announcing the hire, Vance County Schools spokeswoman Terri Hedrick said, "The Vance County Board of Education wanted the next superintendent to be a person who: makes the tough decisions in the education of children in Vance County Schools; is active in the community; is self-motivated; is an advocate for resources; genuinely likes children; and wants the best for children."
They determined that Jackson was their man from a pool of 23 candidates, Hedrick said.
